Tinotenda Kadewere out of Warriors Afcon qualifiers

Tinotenda Kadewere has been ruled out of the Warriors’ Group H Afcon qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia due to an injury.

The France-based striker tore his hamstring in Le Havre’s 2-0 loss at Sochaux on Friday night and was subbed off in the 61st minute.

Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare confirmed the development to the Sunday Mail newspaper.

He said: “Tino (Kadewere) is injured and won’t be available for weeks.

“According to the player’s agent, Le Havre will send us details after the complementary exams (MRI scan) next week (this week).”

Kadewere is expected to be on the sidelines for four weeks.

He has scored 12 goals in 14 games and his unavailability is a blow to coach Joey Antipas who will have reduced options in his team’s frontline.

Zimbabwe will face Botswana in their opening match on November 15 before they travel to Zambia for the second game of the qualifiers.
