List of players now expected to report for Warriors camp

Twenty-two players are now expected in camp for the Warriors’ Afcon qualifiers after several withdrawals due to varying reasons.

Nine stars were initially dropped from the 32-member squad that was announced last month by coach Joey Antipas, and with the camp starting today, two more players have pulled out of the upcoming games against Botswana and Zambia.

Europe-based strikers Tinotenda Kadewere and Macauley Bonne will no longer take part in the games due to injuries.

Kadewere who plays for Le Havre in the French Ligue 2 suffered a hamstring injury over the weekend and will need at least four weeks to recover.

Bonne who was expected to make his competitive debut for the country after receiving his Zimbabwean passport last week also pulled out on medical grounds.

According to Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandere, they will be no replacements for the duo. This means the coach will have only two strikers in his selection – Knox Mutizwa of Golden Arrows in South Africa and Highlanders’ Prince Dube.
