Sianchali brace helps CAPS United regain top spot

Newman Sianchali struck twice to help CAPS United regain their top spot following a 2-1 home victory against ZPC Kariba in a Match-day 30 encounter played on Thursday.

The Green Machine dominated the first half but went to the break trailing behind after Jimu Gwara netted in the 27th minute.

The hosts got the equaliser in the 67th minute through Sianchali who had been on the pitch for ten minutes after replacing Dominic Chungwa.

ZPC Kariba’s hopes of coming out with something from the encounter suffered another blow as they finished the game with ten men. Defender Bornface Zuberi received a red card for a second bookable offence following a crude challenge on Joel Ngodzo in the 84th minute.

The expulsion immediately affected Kauya Katuruturu as the CAPS piled more pressure. They later conceded a goal three minutes before the final whistle after Sianchali headed in Valentine Musarurwa’s cross.

The result sees CAPS United moving back to the summit of the table with 54 points, dislodging Chicken Inn who had taken the top spot on Wednesday after beating Mushowani Stars.
