Musona ready to lead Warriors, unfazed by Anderlecht woes

Zimbabwe skipper Knowledge Musona says the situation he finds himself in at his Belgian club Anderlecht does not change anything in his quest to excel for the Warriors and is ready for battle against Botswana today.

The 29-year-old is back in the Warriors fold after missing the dramatic World Cup 2022 preliminary round qualifier against Somalia and even though he is currently not making the Belgian side’s match day squad, Musona says that does not count.

“I remember when I was in Germany, I was not playing football but I came here and played for the national team and there was no problem,” Musona told The Herald.

“So, I expect the same because I was not just seated. I was training, a normal training just like the other players.” he said.

“It’s very important to win because it also boosts our confidence going into our next game (against Zambia) on Tuesday. We need to start strongly and finish strongly, just like in the other times that we play at home. We have to try and kill the game in the first half by utilising every chance that we get.” added the skipper.
