FC Platinum, Highlanders share spoils as Hwange hold Chicken Inn

FC Platinum’s title aspirations took a nasty turn on Saturday after dropping the points against Highlanders at Mandava Stadium.

The defending champions had an opportunity to go on top of the table with a win over Bosso but were held to a goalless draw.

The game had a cagey start with both teams failing to create any meaningful chance.

Brian Banda had the first real opportunity coming in the 8th minute but his effort was saved by the keeper Francis Tizayi. Tinashe Makanda followed up two minutes later and again it was Tizayi stood in the way.

On the other end, the Platinum Boys had opportunities through Never Tigere, William Stima and Guyve Mawete but their efforts all went off-target.

Nonetheless, the home team came closest on goal just moments into the second half after Gift Mbweti’s header crashed against the woodwork. Tigere also had a good chance towards the hour mark but was denied by Ariel Sibanda from point-blank.

The game ended with no goals scored as the two sides shared the spoils.

At Luveve Stadium, title contenders Chicken Inn dropped the points after playing to a 1-1 draw against Hwange.

The Gamecocks opened the scoring in the 21st minute through George Majika but the 69th penalty from Ernest Gwitima gave Chipangano an away point in the encounter.

Results:
FC Platinum 0-0 Highlanders
Chicken Inn 1-1 Hwange
