Afcon Qualifiers – Group H: Algeria win in Botswana to extend perfect start

Algeria extended their perfect start in the Group H of the Afcon Qualifiers following a 1-0 victory Botswana in Gaborone on Monday.

The North Africans moved to six points after they also won their opening game against Zambia, thrashing them 5-0 on Thursday.

Youcef Belaili’s stunning goal directly from a corner-kick seperated the two teams after the final whistle. The Saudi Arabia-based winger took advantage of a strong wind to curve the ball over goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe into the far corner of the net on thr 14th minute.

The Dessert Foxes were without Riyad Mahrez due to ‘personal reasons’ while Botswana ended the match ended with ten men after Gape Gaogangwe was sent off six minutes from time.

The other Group H enconter will feature Zambia and Zimbabwe at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka this evening. Kick-off is at 6 pm.
