Antipas stands his ground on Musona selection

Warriors coach Joey Antipas has defended his seletion of skipper Knowledge Musona amid massive criticism from some fans after the goalless draw with Botswana last Friday.

The debate on whether Musona should have been called or not dominated headlines in the build up to the Zebras clash and it looks as if it’s far from over after some fans criticised the RSC Anderlecht forward’s performance against the Zebras.

But addressing the media in Zambia yesterday ahead of this evening’s clash, Mafero, as Antipas calls himself, defended his choice on the 29-year-old striker.

“Its just a matter of time before he delivers for us. He (Musona) could not be playing regularly for the first team at but he is training regularly and he is playing games regularly for the reserve side,” said Antipas.

“Although he has been criticised, even us as coaches have been criticised for starting him because of lack of game time, but we know that he can deliver and he retains the captaincy of the team,” added the Warriors coach.
