Mesut Ozil involved in angry spat after Arsenal home defeat to Brighton

Mesut Ozil was involved in an angry spat when he left the field after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Thursday.

A visibly unhappy Ozil who had a subpar performance on the night yelled at the Gunners bench in frustration as he made his way back to the dressing room.

It’s not clear what had made the 31-year-old angry but interim assistant coach Per Mertesacker remained calm and reached to shake hands as the two crossed paths on the touchline.

The defeat saw the Gunners’ winless streak stretching to nine matches, their worst run in over 42 years.

Goals from Adam Webster and Neal Maupay either side of Alexandre Lacazette’s equaliser meant the North Londoners slip to tenth in the table.
