ZIFA’s mandate to incoming new Warriors coach

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) advertised a vacancy for the post of the Warriors coach last week.

The national team has not had a substantive mentor since the resignation of Sunday Chidzambwa in August this year. Joey Antipas took over the reins on an interim basis in a contract which lasts until the end of the year.

The association has already started the process of acquiring a new coach who will start working in early January.

According to the vacancy, ZIFA wants someone who will ensure the Warriors qualify and excels in all major tournaments and assignments.

This means the new mentor will be tasked to bring positive results in the 2021 African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. He will also be expected to finish in a respectable position at the African Nations Championship (Chan) finals set for April next year.

A number of gaffers have expressed interest in the job including Klaus-Dieter Pagels who was in charge of the Warriors seven years ago.

The appointment will be announced during the first week of January.
