Hendrik de Jongh keen on CAF Confed Cup participation

Highlanders coach Hendrik de Jongh says he would love to take his team to the CAF Confederation Cup but the decision to participate will have to come from the board.

Bosso won the 2019 Chibuku Super Cup and booked a ticket to represent Zimbabwe at the 2020/21 season.

But due to budget constraints, the club’s bosses are contemplating on passing the opportunity.

Speaking at his presser ahead of tomorrow’s league game against Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium, de Jongh said:

“I’m a coach with a lot of experience, I have worked in several countries.

“It’s not my decision to say we are going to Africa, but it comes from the board.

“As a coach it’s normal because you want to work at the highest platform. I did that in Kenya (with AFC Leopards) and Rwanda as the F.A’s technical director.”

On his thoughts about tomorrow’s game, the Dutchman said: “It’s not easy to face Bulawayo Chiefs at this time.

“They want to collect as much points as they can so that they won’t be relegated at the end of the season.”

Kick-off is at 3 pm.
