Robert Marawa reacts to Mapeza’s return to FC Platinum

South African sportscaster Robert Marawa has described Norman Mapeza’s move to re-join FC Platinum as a great one, claiming the gaffer didn’t deserve what he went through in South Africa.

Mapeza returned to Mandava to replace Pieter De Jongh who was sacked by the club after CAF barred him from sitting on the bench during Champions League matches.

His arrival followed his failed move to SA top-flight side TTM in September after frustrations from the executive. He also quite Chippa United in February amid reports he was unhappy with interference in his work from the club’s officials.

The coach then signed a contract with the Platinum Boys on Friday to mark the beginning of his second tenure at the Zimbabwe champions.

Responding to the news on Twitter, Marawa – a former SuperSport TV anchor, said: “Great news for the Coach! He didn’t deserve the nonsense he was put through in SA.”

Mapeza’s first stint at FC Platinum ended last year after five years at the helm. He won two league titles and led the team to its first-ever Champions League group stage campaign.
