ZIFA/PSL mini-league tourney in limbo

ZIFA president Felton Kamambo has revealed that they are working on the bio-bubble mini-league tournament, but nothing concrete has come out in terms of funding.

The proposed competition will mark the return of local football in the country after the 2020 season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Teams have already started training, and it’s projected at least US$1 million is needed to hold the mini-league tournament.

“We can’t confirm the kick-off date for now,” Kamambo told The Sunday Mail. “A lot is being done to make sure this bio-bubble tournament goes on.

“We have approached a number of corporates for funding, but nothing concrete has come out. The PSL is also looking for potential sponsors as well. It is still work in progress”.

Should all plans fall into place, Zifa intends to use the mini-league tournament as part of preparations for the locally-based players-reserved Chan finals set for January next year in Cameroon.
