National U-20 team’s trip to SA for COSAFA in limbo

The national U-20 men’s team’s scheduled trip to South Africa for the 2020 COSAFA tournament is hanging in the balance as the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) is said to be not willing to authorize it, it has emerged.

It has emerged that the SRC barred the team from traveling to the Rainbow nation citing failure by ZIFA to communicate of it a month before for the team to be cleared in accordance with Covid-19 procedure.

The Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side was set to take part in this year’s edition of the regional tournament, which was slated for December 3-13 at the Nelson Mandela bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

ZIFA are yet to break silence on the issue.
