Kadewere targets Champions League football with Lyon

Zimbabwean striker Tinotenda Kadewere says he has his sights set on the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League with French side Olympique Lyon.

The Warriors hit man has been in fine form for Les Gones, for whom he has scored four goals in the last five league appearances.

Speaking ahead of today’s clash with countryman Marshall Munetsi’s Stade de Reims, the lanky striker revealed that his target is to play Champions League football next season.

“The goal is to play in the Champions League. I’ve already taken a step forward with OL. It’s a very big club. I am very happy to be here. I play with very good players. We have a good relationship, we are like a family. I have to stay focused,” he told the club’s website.

Kadewere also hailed the role played by striker partner and captain, Dutch whiz Memphis Depay, in helping him settle at the club.

“I joined a family. Memphis is next to me in the locker room. We talk to each other all the time. He’s a good guy. He’s a real captain. He’s nice to everyone. When I lost my brother, he was with me on the phone all the time. He asks for news of my relatives. We’re like a family on this team,” he said.
