Dream debut for Kadonzvo as Ngezi qualify for Chibuku Super Cup quarters

Valentine Kadanzvo has an impressive debut after he scored two goals as Ngezi Platinum Stars’ won 3-0 against WhaWha in the Chibuku Super Cup, Matchday 2 encounter on Sunday.

The forward missed the opening round last week due to eligibility issues but the club managed to register him ahead of the encounter. He scored his first in the 5th minute to open the scoring before completing his brace towards the break.

Wellington Taderere was credited with the other goal while Denver Mukamba’s fine form saw him grabbing an assist in the game.

The win means that Ngezi and FC Platinum, who beat Triangle yesterday, have progressed to the quarter-finals after reaching six points.

The two teams will meet in the midweek for their final Group 4 game to decide who takes the first spot in the pool.

At Barbourfields, Highlanders and Chicken Inn played a goalless draw in a Group 2 encounter.

Captain Ariel Sibanda returned to the Bosso first XI after missing the opening game of the campaign last week.

The match saw little goal mouth action through the ninety minutes with both teams failing to create meaningful chances.

The result sees the Gamecocks and Highlanders tied at four points in Group 2.

In Harare, CAPS United and Harare City played to a 1-1 draw on a Group 1 encounter.

The Sunshine Boys opened the scoring in the 57th minute through William Manondo but Ishmael Wadi, a former City player, cancelled out the lead in the 72nd minute.

Elsewhere, Manica Diamonds lost 2-1 to Tenax while ZPC Kariba and Herentals played a goalless draw.
