Gabon international Aaron Boupendza died at 28 after falling from the 11th floor of a building in China.

He was based in the Asian country where he was for Zhejiang FC.

The Gabonese Football Federation stated on X. “The Gabonese international died following a fall from the 11th floor of his building in China. Aged 28, Boupendza leaves us as a great striker who made his mark at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.”

Boupendza played for Bordeaux in France before starring at Hatayspor in Turkey, where he was the Super Lig’s top scorer in 2020–21.

He later played for Al-Arabi in Qatar, winning the Qatar FA Cup, and Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

Boupendza also had stints with FC Cincinnati in the USA and Rapid Bucharest in Romania before joining Zhejiang FC in January 2025.
