Zimbabwe international goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze will remain at Magesi FC despite the club’s relegation from South Africa’s top flight at the end of the 2025/26 season.
There had been speculation that the veteran shot-stopper could leave in search of top-flight football after Magesi dropped to the National First Division.
However, newly-appointed coach Kabelo Sibiya has confirmed that the Warriors goalkeeper is among the players the club intends to keep ahead of the new campaign.
“I am not at liberty to announce the players. There are still some players with contractual discussions going on,” he said, as cited by FarPost.
“So I can’t confirm which players will remain or will be leaving the club. I was just mentioning Chipezeze because he is one of the players that we will be retaining. So for others, the club will make a statement at the right time in terms of who is staying with or leaving.”
Chipezeze has been one of Magesi’s key figures since joining from Baroka in 2022. He helped the Limpopo outfit earn promotion to the Betway Premiership in 2024 and played a starring role in their memorable Carling Knockout Cup triumph, collecting the Man of the Match award in every match as Magesi stunned Mamelodi Sundowns in the final.
