Scottland took a first-leg advantage in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after securing a 2-0 victory over Angolan giants Petro de Luanda at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Sunday.
Mabviravira claimed the win through second-half goals from Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona to put themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg.
Petro de Luanda suffered an early setback when their goalkeeper received a straight red card for a professional foul on Billiat.
Scottland sought to capitalise on their numerical advantage and dominated proceedings in the ensuing moments, but the Angolans stood firm to keep the hosts at bay as the teams went into the half-time break goalless.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock in the 66th minute when Billiat found the back of the net.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star then turned provider, setting up Musona to double Scottland’s lead in the 80th minute.
The result gives the Zimbabwean champions a two-goal cushion heading into the second leg, which Petro de Luanda will host in Luanda, Angola, on 23 October 2026.
