Aspiring FIFA candidate Tokyo Sexwale believes it’s about time FIFA is headed by an African.
Sexwale is set to contest next year’s FIFA Presidential elections. He will come up against Prince Ali bin al-Hussein, Musa Bility, Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino, Michel Platini, Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa for the top post.
Speaking at the COSAFA General meeting that took place at the weekend Sexwale said, I am not saying it is a colour thing, it’s far from that.
“All I am saying is that the time for diversity has arrived .I’m not here to keep quiet and pretend things are not happening because they are.
Sexwale’s comments come days after acting FIFA president Issa Hayatou said the organisation was in need of rebuilding following the corruption scandals that had rocked the association in recent months.
There may be more challenges, and it will take time for the reforms to take effect. Our resolve to rebuild Fifa for the better remains steadfast,” he wrote in an open letter on Friday.
