Arsene Wenger can scarcely believe his good fortune. A win for his Arsenal side at Stamford Bridge on Saturday lunchtime could send Chelsea and Jose Mourinho – his great nemesis – tumbling into the relegation zone.
It’s a prospect that quite a few football fans would relish – Chelsea, the team that won the title so majestically just four months ago, languishing down there in the drop zone.
Indeed, there is a mathematical possibility, if Chelsea lose and Stoke, Newcastle and Sunderland all win that the Blues could end the weekend rock bottom. Who’d have predicted that?
