Chan 2016 hosts Rwanda beat Ivory Coast in the tournament’s Group A opener in what can be described as a first major upset.
Emery Bayisenge gave the hosts the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of a well taken free kick.
Emery could have sealed the match early in the second half after Rwanda was awarded a penalty, but the firey striker missed the spot.
Ivory Coast best chance to snatch a point came on the stroke of full time when Djedje Guiza hit the post.
Group A next match later today (18:00hrs) will see Morocco lock horns with Gabon.
