Valdes says goodbye to United fans

Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes has tweeted a goodbye message to his supporters at the club ahead of his move to Standard Liege on loan. The Spanish goalkeeper has experienced a difficult season at Old Trafford, with manager Luis Van Gaal seemingly disinterested in his services between the posts. The former FC Barcelona goalkeeper took to Twitter on Thursday to send the emotional message to his fans.

He tweeted:

”Thank you for your support during these months of hard work for me, I will never forget. See you soon!’’

The Spain international fell out of Van Gaal’s favour at Old Trafford with David Ge Gea and Sergio Romero being preferred as first choice and second choice goalkeepers respectively.

The relationship between the 33-year-old and the Dutch tactician grew even worse when he allegedly refused to play for Man United’s Under-21 squad last season. Despite signing an 18-month-deal with the Premier League giants, Valdes only featured for the first team twice this season, and was also left out during Man United pre-season tour of the USA.
