Barca confirms Dembele deal as Oxalade refuses Arsenal’s new offer

Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembele for a club-record fee.

The 20-year-old France international forward is due to arrive in Barcelona on Sunday and will undergo a medical on Monday before signing a five-year contract. He has been given squad number 11.

His arrival at Camp Nou will fill a void left by Neymar who joined PSG in a record transfer.

Previously, the La Liga giants had several bids on Phillipe Coutinho rejected by Liverpool including a 113 million pound bid. However Coutinho is hoping Barcelona do not give up on him after they signed Ousmane Dembele. He has not featured at Liverpool training since the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are desperate to keep Alex Oxalade-Chamberlain after he reportadly turned down a new £180k-a-week contract. Coach Arsene Wenger held talks with the England midfielder on Thursday in a final attempt to persuade him to stay at the Emirates.

Premier league sides Chelsea and Liverpool are waiting to snatch the midfielder in a deal understood to be beyond 30 million pounds. The London outfit will try their best to keep Chamberlain but loosing the player as a free agent won’t be ideal for the Gunners. The midfielder is left with one year on his contract and he might not renew it.
