Preview: CAPS, Dynamos clash in epic Harare Derby

CAPS United and Dynamos will clash the 79th edition of the Harare Derby at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In a match which brings more than just playing for three points, the Harare Derby will see the two giants tussling for glory, reputation and dominance.

The match comes at a time when both teams are going through a purple patch and it promises to bring nothing short of exciting drama and mouth watering events.

The Glamour Boys have produced an impressive run of five consecutive wins which has firmly put them in the right position to win the Championship. They are currently third on log, six points behind leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars.

A win for them will keep them close with leading pack.

However the win will not come easily considering how their rivals have been performing.
The Green Machine has a six match undefeated streak. They are currently on position eleven but they have five games in hand.

Nonetheless, both teams are convinced with their preparations. But it is CAPS United whose build up to the game was slightly disrupted after players refused to train in protest over unpaid salaries. However the issue was quickly dealt with and the training resumed.

Several star players are likely to feature in this clash including CAPS’ Devon Chafa who was also a Dynamos player four seasons ago.

Fullback Hardlife Zvirekwi and Justice Jangano are back in the squad of the Champions. Dominic Chungwa, unfortunately will miss the Derby due to suspension.
Dynamos defender Marshal Machazane is another player who is unavailable for the clash. The stalky center back failed to recover from injury quickly ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, with their first win over Dembare in seven years coming last year, Makepekepe are looking forward to collect maximum points. Their last meeting ended in a 3-3 stalemate.

The match will start at 3pm and it will be live on Supersport.
Elsewhere, Bulawayo giants will host Chapungu at Hartsfield while Hwange play at home to FC Platinum. Shabanie will entertain Ngezi Platinum Stars at Maglas.
