Erol Akbay feels Highlanders could have won the Battle of Zimbabwe against Dynamos at Rufaro stadium yesterday had his players been clinical in front of goal.
Goal scorer Benson Phiri fluffed two good chances while King Nadolo wasted another clear cut chance with only the goalkeeper to beat. Gabriel Nyoni also had some chances that came his way but failed to put them to good use.
Highlanders came into the match on the backdrop of a four match losing streak and having failed to score in the last five matches but were a complete changed side in terms of display against Dynamos.
” I am happy with the performance of the boys but I feel that we should have won. We created so many chances which we should have scored,” said Akbay
” I am happy though that the confidence is back among the boys going into the next matches. I have always said we are playing good football but scoring is a problem,”he added.
Christian Epoupa who was later red carded for head butting Peter Muduhwa putting Dynamos ahead in the second minute before Phiri equalised sixteen minutes into the second half.
Akbay is still to lose to Dynamos since joining Highlanders last season. The Dutchman completed a double over Dynamos last year and is still to lose to their old foes. Highlanders lost the reverse fixture through a boardroom decision after Highlanders fans were found guilty for violent conduct that led to the abandonment of the match with the tie still tied at 1-1.
