Rooney gets two year driving ban

Wayne Rooney has been banned from driving for two years after pleading guilty to drink and driving.

The Everton striker was also sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid community work by Stockport Magistrates’ Court. His team Everton are also fining him two weeks wages.

However, his driving ban will be reduced by 24 weeks if he undergoes a specialist driving course by February 2, 2019.

Rooney was arrested in the early hours of September 1 seven-and-a-half miles from his home in Prestbury, Cheshire. The 31-year-old was found to be over the prescribed limit and was released on bail after being charged.
