COSAFA WC: Stats and Facts

The 2017 COSAFA Women Championship enters the semi final stage tomorrow with South Africa, Zambia, Kenya and Zimbabwe set to battle in the last four.

A record of twelve teams participated in this year’s edition. They were put in three groups, each with four teams. Top teams in the groups advanced to the next round while best runner up completed the set.

Here are some of the facts and statistics in the tournament so far:

»Group A produced more goals than any group with 38 goals. Group B produced less goals(19)

»Kenya have more goals than any other semi finalist. They have 17 goals followed by Zambia who have 14. Zimbabwe have eight while South Africa have seven.

»The biggest scoreline was between Kenya and Mauritius. Kenya won 11-0

»Rutendo Makore scored all goals(8) for Zimbabwe

»Mauritius have the worst performance in the tournament, they conceded 17 goals and scored none.

»Kenya is the only semi finalist to have won all their matches in the group stages.

»They are 86 goals scored in this current edition, surpassing the number of goals scored in 2011 edition overally by 24 goals.
