Brazilian legend Rivaldo’s arrival which was scheduled for 4:30 pm today has been pushed to 9pm after the star allegedly refused to board a ‘small plane’ which he said was too small for his status.
Rivaldo is in South Africa waiting for a connecting flight to Zimbabwe . The former Barcelona star is coming from Georgia where he participated in a charity match organized by former AC Milan midfielder Kakha Khaladze at the weekend. The match saw other greats such as Cafu, Paulo Maldini, Francesco Totti, Javier Zanetti and Andriy Shevchenko participating.
Rivaldo is coming into the country as part of the charm offensive initiatives by the government through the ministry of sports to market the country through sports tourism. The visit by the former players will be followed by a match between the Warriors and a team of former Barcelona legends at the National Sports stadium on a date still to be announced.
