Croatia and Switzerland booked their ticket to the 2018 World Cup after they won their respective qualification playoffs.

Switzerland 0-0 Northern Ireland (Switzerland won 1-0 on aggregate)
After taking the first leg in Northern Ireland 1-0, Switzerland was able to control the pace of play in the second leg, which ended scoreless. There were tense moments during the match in Switzerland, but the visitors were unable to score on the impossibly muddy pitch.

Greece 0-0 Croatia (Croatia won 4-1 on aggregate)
The second leg of Greece-Croatia was largely ceremonial as the Croatians took the first leg 4-1 at home. The Greeks were unable to mount any type of sustained offense and failed to score as they, too, lost by a score of 0-0.

Meanwhile, the only two spots in Europe left will go to either Sweden or Italy and Denmark or Ireland. The Italians find themselves on the verge of missing their first World Cup since 1958, as they return home tomorrow after losing 1-0 in Sweden.

Denmark and Ireland played to a 0-0 draw in their first match, which makes the second one a winner-takes-all.
