The reason behind ZIFA’s sudden change of name of the President’s Cup to Christmas Challenge Cup has been revealed.
The association announced on Sunday that from this year onward, they will organise annual editions of the Christmas Challenge Cup starting with the Warriors game against Zambia on Saturday. Initially, ZIFA had organised the Saturday encounter to celebrate the rise of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to power.
A respected journalist and senior sports reporter at Herald, Grace Chingoma revealed on Twitter that the Government rejected the use of the President’s name in the Cup.
