Willard Katsande U-18 Tourney grows bigger

The organisers of the Willard Katsande Under 18 Soccer Tournament intend to make this year’s edition bigger and better.

At least 14 teams around the country are expected to feature at the tournament which kicks off in Mutare on December 22. The winners will walk away with $1000, a trophy and football kits while the runners-up will pocket $500 + football kits. In another big development, outstanding players will have a chance to undergo trials with ABSA Premiership clubs.

Resident Minister of Manicaland Province, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa will be the guest of honour. ZIFA Technical Director, Wilson Mutekede and South African-based football stars, Ovidy Karuru, Kingston Nkhatha and Onismor Bhasera are also expected to grace the event.

Meanwhile, former ZIFA Committee Member, Edzai Kasinauyo will be remembered at the tournament for his role in the development of local football.

Kasinauyo, who was Willard Katsande’s manager, passed away in June this year at the age of 42.
