Romelu Lukaku hailed as the best striker in the World by Belgium coach Roberto Martinez

Belgium goal scoring hero Romelu Lukaku is the best striker in the World in coach Roberto Martinez’s eyes.

The Manchester United target man is among the chasers for the World Cup Golden Boot scoring charts with four goals.

Lukaku spoke before the tournament about his desire to use the World Cup to showcase his talents and the Big striker has delivered despite falling off with a below par performance in the semi final.

Belgium will battle for pride when they face England in the 3rd place play off.

“If you ask me ‘is he the best in the world?’, yes,” Martinez told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

“But I am biased. I worked first with him when he was 19 and I’ve seen an incredible, incredible journey in his career.

“His numbers throughout his career are very difficult (to achieve). His biggest attribute is he is a goalscorer and a finisher.”

Lukaku has failed to score in his last three games for Belgium, but has 23 goals from his last 23 international appearances.
