Luton Town coach Matt Bloomfield has expressed openness to allowing some senior players to leave the club, provided the right offers are received.
Following their relegation from the English Championship, Luton will compete in League One in the upcoming season.
Among those linked with a potential exit is Marvelous Nakamba, reportedly due to his high salary. The Zimbabwe international, who missed Luton’s 3-0 pre-season friendly win against Boreham Wood over the weekend, joined the club on a permanent transfer three seasons ago during their time in the English Premier League.
Speaking to Luton Today, Bloomfield commented on the possibility of further departures: “I’m open to that because if the right offers come in, and players feel it’s the right move for them, and the price is met for the club to enable us to improve, then we must focus on what’s best for us.
“I don’t want to lose any players, but if the price is right, the player desires to leave, and it benefits the football club, that’s the reality of football management. There are certain players you really don’t want to lose, but if they do leave and the process is handled with integrity and respect, we shake hands and move forward, focusing on our future.”
Players who have already departed include Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu, Amari’i Bell, Tim Krul, and Victor Moses.
