Durban City coach Gavin Hunt has expressed disappointment after Kaitano Tembo failed to join the club as his assistant.

Hunt had identified Tembo as a potential member of his technical team following his appointment last month at Betway Premiership newcomers, Durban City.

The two coaches previously worked together at SuperSport United, with Tembo playing under Hunt before later joining him as an assistant.

However, the reunion failed to materialise after Tembo decided to remain at Sekhukhune United, where he is now coaching the development side.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Hunt said:
“He was supposed to come, then obviously something happened at Sekhukhune — I don’t know. I was disappointed because he would have worked well with me. But in saying that, I’ve got Pitso Dladla with me. We’ve kept him on, and sometimes continuity is a good thing. Keeping him in the mix https://srisabaripackersandmovers.com/contact-us/ has been very positive. I trust his opinion and his judgement. Obviously, he still has to learn how I like to work and how I don’t — but day by day, we are getting better.”

He added:
“Tembo knows how I like to work and the kind of training we do. He would have helped me share the load early on and as the season progressed. Everybody is different, and it’s rare to find someone who approaches things exactly the same way. If he had come in, we would have hit the ground running. But now, it’s a bedding-in period. There are key principles I want to instil in the team, and you need someone who understands your vision. When you bring in an assistant you already know, everything flows more smoothly.”
