Former Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) president Philip Chiyangwa has ruled out any possibility of returning to football administration.
Chiyangwa led ZIFA from December 2015 to December 2018 and also served as president of COSAFA between 2016 and 2021. During his tenure, he held a position within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as well.
Speaking to The Standard, Chiyangwa said he has no intention of returning to mainstream football but remains open to offering advice when needed.
“I successfully served my term as ZIFA president,” he said. “I led COSAFA, the biggest regional football grouping in Africa, with success. I also played my part at CAF, the continental football body. It’s time to give others a chance. After all, I am now 62 years old.”
Chiyangwa added: “There was a time I heard that I wanted to be ZIFA president again. I said to myself, ZIFA president — when I had already been high up at COSAFA? Why go down the ladder when there is CAF and FIFA up there?”
