Bafana Bafana winger Relebohile Mofokeng is reportedly closing in on a move to Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise following his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Belgian publication Het Nieuwsblad, Union Saint-Gilloise are now close to reaching an agreement for the 21-year-old Orlando Pirates star, who has long been on the club’s radar.
The Belgian outfit are said to have accelerated their pursuit after monitoring Mofokeng over an extended period, with the youngster further enhancing his reputation during South Africa’s historic World Cup campaign.
Mofokeng featured in three of Bafana Bafana’s four matches at the tournament, helping Hugo Broos’ side reach the knockout stages for the first time in the nation’s history before their narrow Round of 32 defeat to Canada.
The versatile attacker is coming off another outstanding season with Orlando Pirates, scoring 10 league goals and providing eight assists in 27 appearances as he played a key role in the club’s Premier Soccer League title-winning campaign.
The publication adds that the Belgian Pro League club is keen to wrap up the transfer as quickly as possible.
As a result, Mofokeng is expected to travel directly from the United States to Belgium to finalise the move, while the rest of his Bafana Bafana teammates return home to South Africa following the end of their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
