Belgian champions Royale Union Saint-Gilloise have officially unveiled Bafana Bafana winger Relebohile Mofokeng as their newest signing, while also revealing the length of his contract with the club.
Union confirmed that the 21-year-old has signed a long-term deal that will keep him at the Belgian Pro League side until June 2030, with the club holding an option to extend the contract by a further year.
Mofokeng completed the move from South African giants Orlando Pirates after the two clubs finalised an agreement following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the winger featured for Bafana Bafana. Pirates had earlier confirmed that the transfer had been agreed, with the announcement delayed until after the tournament to allow the player to focus on international duty.
Speaking after his unveiling, Mofokeng described the move as a dream come true but insisted he is determined to help Union achieve more success.
He told the club’s media: “It’s a dream to play in Europe and to begin our Champions League qualifying campaign soon. The past year has been very special, with the league title, my first FIFA World Cup with South Africa and now this important step in my career. I hope to continue developing as a player here. Together with the team, we’ll do everything we can to compete for trophies.”
