The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has suspended five match officials after determining that their officiating decisions materially affected the outcomes of matches across the Premier Soccer League and regional leagues.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ZIFA confirmed that the suspensions followed the consideration of reports submitted by match commissioners, with the sanctions imposed in line with Article 22 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct.
Among those suspended is assistant referee Phikisani Ndlovu, who has been banned for six Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches, from Matchday 21 to Matchday 26. His suspension stems from the FC Platinum versus Hunters FC fixture played at Mandava Stadium on 27 June 2026.
ZIFA also suspended referee Chamunorwa Tapiwa for six Northern Region Soccer League matches, from Matchday 17 to Matchday 22, following the Marere FC versus Zambezi G & C FC encounter played at Centenary Ground on 21 June 2026.
Assistant referee Christian Gumbeze received the same six-match suspension for Northern Region Soccer League fixtures after being implicated in the same match.
In the Southern Region Soccer League, referee Graduate Mubobo has been suspended for six matches, from Matchday 16 to Matchday 21, following a fixture officiated at Chinotimba Stadium on 24 June 2026.
Assistant referee Praise Mkwevo was also handed a six-match suspension covering Matchdays 16 to 21 after his performance in the same Southern Region encounter.
According to ZIFA, the disciplinary measures were taken after the officials made incorrect decisions that were deemed to have had a material impact on the results of the respective matches.
“The sanctions relate to incorrect officiating decisions considered to have materially affected the outcomes of the respective matches, in breach of Article 22 of the ZIFA Referees Code of Conduct,” the association said.
