AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has revealed his ambitious plan for Zimbabwean striker Thando Ngwenya after previously criticising the forward despite his impressive scoring form.
Ngwenya continued his fine run in front of goal on Saturday, scoring once and providing an assist as AmaZulu secured a 2-0 victory over Siwelele.
The performance came after Zwane had launched a scathing criticism of the 24-year-old, saying, “the Zimbabwe international is lazy on the ball”.
However, the AmaZulu coach has now made it clear that he has high expectations for Ngwenya and wants to help him reach the level of some of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated footballers.
“Thando is still young, but I want him to reach the level of the Musonas,” said Zwane after the win over Siwelele.
“I am his mentor and coach, and I will push him to reach that level.
“When he returns to Zimbabwe, I want him to eventually be regarded in the same way as the Musonas, Khama Billiat and Peter Ndlovu because he has the potential to reach that level.”
Ngwenya has made a strong start to the campaign and has scored five goals in four games across all competitions.
