Veteran player Donald ‘Dombo’ Ngoma scored six goals in his team’s 13–0 win over Gokwe North on Wednesday last week.

He now has 12 goals in his last five games, taking his tally to 14 for the season in the Central Region Division One League.

In an interview with Soccer24, Ngoma said the scoring spree has boosted his confidence for upcoming matches, and he feels encouraged to continue his form as Hardrock FC push for promotion.

“It’s every dream of a player to score as many goals. I guess it gives me confidence for the coming matches,” he said.

“Reflecting on the game, Ngoma said, “Being honest, I knew I would score a goal; it was just a matter of time, and scoring many was just a bonus.

“There is no secret; it’s just the hunger since I have not been scoring lately,” he added.

He, however, went on to praise his teammates for their support.

“I think everybody in my team has been helpful. Everyone has confidence in me, just that I had a slow start,” he said.

Asked on how life has been in the lower league, the former FC Platinum, Young Africans (Tanzania), Azam FC (Tanzania), and Green Fuel FC striker said,

“Division One football is difficult due to playing surfaces and aggression.”

Despite his goal-scoring run, Ngoma remains focused on the team’s objectives.

“Actually, I don’t have a personal goal. I just hope we play and win all our coming matches and be promoted,” he said.

Hardrock FC will look to maintain their momentum as they push for promotion to the Premier Soccer League. They currently lead the Central Region One Standings.
