Knowledge Musona has been left out of Scottland’s squad for their historic CAF Champions League debut against Nsingizini Hotspurs on Sunday, amid growing tensions following his recent fallout with coach Norman Mapeza.
The veteran forward was involved in a controversial incident during Scottland’s goalless draw against FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on Wednesday.
Musona was substituted in the 53rd minute and, instead of taking his place on the bench, walked straight to the dressing room. He later returned wearing a tracksuit and appeared to avoid the Scottland technical area.
The Warriors international has now been dropped from the squad facing Nsingizini Hotspurs in the Champions League.
Musona has been an important player for Scottland since joining the club, scoring 10 goals in 28 appearances this season, and his absence would represent a significant blow for Mapeza’s side.
Scottland host Nsingizini Hotspurs at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the Zimbabwean champions looking to secure an advantage in the first leg of their preliminary-round tie.
Scottland XI: Chadya, Jalai, Thwala, Muduhwa, Moyo, Shidolo, Moffat, Msebe, Mutimbanyoka, W. Musona, Billiat.
