ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi has been elected into the COSAFA Executive Committee following the regional body’s elective congress held in Harare Sunday.
Magwizi was voted in as one of the four Executive Committee Members, marking another significant milestone for Zimbabwean football administration.
The newly-elected COSAFA leadership will be headed by Botswana’s Oabile Thona Tariq Babitseng, who was elected President unopposed, while Madagascar’s Alfred Randriamanampisoa was chosen as Vice President.
Zambia’s Brenda Kunda secured the reserved women’s seat on the Executive Committee.
Magwizi joins Lesotho’s Lijane Nthunya, Namibia’s Robert Shimooshili and Eswatini’s Peter Simelane as the elected Executive Committee Members.
South Africa’s Linda Zwane and Angola’s Irene Gonzalez were also co-opted into the committee.
The elections were conducted during the COSAFA Congress hosted by Zimbabwe in Harare, an event attended by football leaders from across Southern Africa as well as CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
