Costa, Katsande, Billiat, Musona shine for Warriors

The Warriors 1-1 draw with Guinea saw goalkeeper Washington Arubi take the limelight but there was a lot of good individual performances on the day that made sure the Warriors picked up a point and crucially did not lose.

Here are our star performers :

Costa Nhamoinesu

Costa Nhamoinesu

For years the Sparta Prague man has been overlooked for national duty despite his exploits for the Czech Republic side where he commands a regular starting place.

Costa almost never put a foot wrong, he was so cool and composed and his tackles and ball distribution were just excellent. Crucially as well he played a good role in covering Arubi from more anxious moments

Knowledge Musona

The “smiling assassin” continues to be the Warriors saviour and yesterday was at it again getting the all-important goal that levelled matters. Musona had other chances that forced the Guinea keeper to make some good saves especially in the 87th minute when a freekick that was definitely going in was just turned away. Good to see his club form continue in national colours.

Willard Katsande

The skipper on the day lead so well and was a joy to watch as he pulled strings in the midfield stopping attacks and starting moves. He too like Costa looked calm, collected and confident on the ball. Put in a man of the match performance

Khama Billiat

The Sundowns man’s pace and trickery on the wing caused many problems for Guinea. His inch perfect crosses were a constant menace and it was unfortunate Mushekwi and Malajila could not get to the end of some of them to finish. He was eventually substituted for Kuda Mahachi apparently due to injury much to the disapproval of the home ground.
