In the Castle Lager Premiership today there were wins for Flame Lilly ,Hwange and Highlanders while Dynamos and Harare City played out a goalless draw.
Dynamos suffered a blow to their title aspirations when they were held to a goalless draw by Harare City at Rufaro Stadium this afternoon.
Dynamos missed several chances throughout the game with Harare City goalkeeper Maxwell Nyamupanedengu on top form denying them on a number of occasions.
The dropped points mean Dynamos now trail log leaders Chicken Inn by six points with five games to go. Second placed FC Platinum are two points ahead of Dynamos.
At Barbourfields Stadium Highlanders got back to winning ways and away from the drop zone with a 2-0 win over bottom side Dongo Sawmills.
Obadiah Tarumbwa opened the scoring in the 25th minute . Knox Mutizwa blew a great chance to double the lead when he missed from the penalty spot after had been brought down in the box. Mutizwa is currently joint top of the goal scorers list with Chicken Inn’s Edmore Chirambadare
However Rahman Kutsanzira then eventually made it two nil just before half time. Highlanders though ended the game with ten men after Douglas Sibanda was red carded for a second bookable offence just before the break.
Highlanders though did enough in the second half to preserve their lead and secure a crucial three points. Highlanders are now in 10th spot on 31 points ,8 points away from the drop zoe
At Gibbo Stadium Flame Lilly handed Triangle a shock 3-0 defeat .Flame Lilly raced into the lead a soon the 6th minute through Moses Demera.Ten minutes later Flame Lilly were two up and cruising. James Chivasa added a third in the second half to complete the win that gives Flame Lilly a glimmer of hope in their survival battle.
At the Colliery David Boriwondo’s late strike gave Hwange a 1-0 win over Chapungu.
