Akbay: I want to bring success to Highlanders

Highlanders are reportedly on the verge of signing Dutchman Erol Akbay. Akbay has been in the country for a few days and watched Highlanders’ 1-0 win over Buffaloes at the weekend.

Although talks are on-going  with the Highlanders executive Akbay told the Chronicle that a deal looks promising and could be concluded this week.

Akbay also gave his thoughts on Highlanders. “Highlanders is a very big institution with passionate fans, hungry for success. It’s my hope that I will be able to give them that success he said.

Highlanders have had a poor 2015 struggling for most of the season and currently languish in a unfamiliar 9th spot on the table with the season coming to an end.

Akbay will succeed Bongani Mafu who was fired after a string of poor results and will be given the mandate to guide Highlanders in 2016.

He is also expected to watch Highlanders in action against FC Platinum in the Netone Easy Call Cup this coming weekend.
