HARARE City on Friday afternoon drew a tricky customer in the giant Madagascar football league side, AS Adema, who are serial domestic winners and even qualified for the quarterfinals in the CAF Confederations Cup in 2002.
AS Adema have won the league title three times, Coupe de Madagascar four times and the Super Cup three times between 2002 and this year. They are based in the capital Antananarivo and commands a huge following due to their success.
But City will have to deal with that quality when they clash in the first leg of the preliminary round of the 2016 edition of CAF Confederation Cup on the weekend of February 12-14, with the 13th the most likely fixture date, which will be a Saturday. The return leg will be in a fortnight in the wind swept Antananarivo, who despite some lovely beaches has occasional punishing humidity.
The draw was conducted at CAF headquarters in Cairo where local league leaders Chicken Inn drew the inform South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns in the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions league.
