Real Madrid opened the scoring through in the third-minute through Danilo but Rayo Vallecano ‘s Antonio Amaya and Jozabed put Rayo into a surprise lead.
Bale then put Real Madrid level but things turned badly for Rayo Vallecano when Roman Triguero received a straight red for a challenge.
Rayo Vallecano were then reduced to ten men when Raul Baena received a second yellow.
With 9 men Real Madrid took full advantage as they went on a rampage to get to double digits. The win puts Real Madrid two points behind Barcelona and Atletico Real Madrid though Rafa Benitez’s man have played a game more.
Barcelona were not action due to their participation in the FIFA World Cup final where they beat Argentina’s River Plate 3-0 with Suarez scoring a brace and Lionel Messi adding a goal.
