FIFA ban Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid

FIFA have announced a transfer ban of two windows for Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for violating transfer rules.

A statement from FIFA read: The two clubs were found to have violated several provisions concerning the international transfer and first registration of minor players as well as other relevant provisions with regard to the registration and participation of certain players in competitions.

The two clubs will not be allowed to register any players at national and international level for the next two complete and consecutive registration periods.

The ban will come into effect after the current transfer period. Atlético de Madrid have been handed a CHF 900,000 fine with Real Madrid fined for CHF 360,000. The clubs have been issued with a reprimand and given 90 days in which to regularise the situation of all minor players concerned.

FIFA decision comes after Barcelona were handed a similar ban at the end of 2014 which saw the club unable to sign any players in 2015 for the same offence
