Pasuwa blames missed chances for Warriors exit

Warriors head coach Callisto Pasuwa has blamed the failure to take their goal scoring chances for their 1-0 defeat to Mali.

Zimbabwe crashed out of the tournament following the defeat. The Warriors had the better chances throughout the game but were wasteful in front of goal.

Speaking after the game Pasuwa said, “We missed our chances. They (Mali) had a free-kick and they scored. We need as much to convert our chances in this kind of tournament.

“We managed to close down Mali but failed to take our chances. It has been a learning curve for us. Most of the players are under 23-years, and we need to keep motivating them.

“The boys are learning and they know what it means to play in the senior team.

Meanwhile Zambia qualified to the next stage from the group after beating Uganda 1-0. The result means either Mali and Uganda can will compete for the other qualifying spot in the final group games. Zimbabwe will clash with Uganda while Zambia and Mali meet in the other final Group D game.
