In the Castle Lager Premiership today Highlanders hammered Ngezi Platinum while CAPS United were beaten by How Mine.
CAPS United were handed their first defeat of the season by How Mine when they lost 2-1 at Luveve Stadium this afternoon.
The Green Machine went into the game on top of the table but two impressive first half goals by Charles Sibanda and Qadr Amini saw Chitembwe’s team trail 2-0 by the half-time break .
How Mine caused problems from the onset with Pascal Manhanga a constant threat for the miners.
Manhanga then combined well with Kuda Musharu who set up Charles Sibanda for a very good opener in the 25th minute. Seven minutes later Amini’s stunning free kick beat Jorum Muchambo. How Mine continued to threaten as the half progressed.
CAPS United came back a much improved side.Simba Nhivi and Leonard Tsipa all came close as CAPS tried to get back into the game but How Mine repelled their efforts.
With 11 minutes to go Abbas Amidu pulled one back to give CAPS some hope. CAPS pressed for the equaliser in the remaining minutes but the damage was done.
The loss sees CAPS United lose the top spot to Highlanders who beat Ngezi Platinum 4-1.
Erol Akbay’s side gave debutants Ngezi Platinum a hiding at home with young striker Prince Dube grabbing a brace and Eric Mudzingwa and Rahman Kutsanzira scoring the other goals.
Dube opened the scoring in the 11th minute and from there it was one way traffic with Mudzingwa adding a second in the 28th minute. Pakamisa gave Ngezi Platinum a bit of a chance with a goal before half time but any hope was dashed in the second half as Kutsanzira added the third before Prince Dube completed his brace.
In other matches Tsholotsho edged Harare City 1-0 at Rufaro Stadium while ZPC Kariba beat Mutare City 2-0.
